The Cultural Council of Richland/Lexington Counties is the centralized resource for the Arts Community in Columbia, South Carolina. We provide leadership, funding and business expertise to artists and arts organizations to support local music, theatre, dance and visual and literary arts. The Cultural Council offers a single source of arts-related information to patrons and media. We contribute to economic development and quality of life in the Riverbanks Region by promoting the Arts as the foundation of the knowledge-based economy.

Funding Priorities

This grant category is designed to support specific arts activities that promote individual artist projects, professional development or career advancement.

Projects that promote excellence in an arts discipline and make such excellence accessible for general community-wide audiences are also encouraged. Quarterly project grants are awarded to help pay actual project costs. Ordinary living expenses during the project can not be supported with Cultural Council grant funds.

Our Quarterly Grants program is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC. Additional support is provided by the City of Columbia, Lexington County, Richland County and Cultural Council contributors.
