Traditional "Community Cultural Planning," as defined by Americans for the Arts, differs from organizational strategic or long range planning in that the goals are bottom-up grassroots or "customer service driven" rather than internally developed by the organization.
The 2005 Plan is the result of a series of community or "brown bag" open meetings with the constituency, followed by a series of interest group work sessions to identify specific issues raised by the constituency that can and should be addressed by the Cultural Council.
This process does not change the Vision or Mission as defined below in the 2004 Strategic Plan, but rather refocuses or redefines these elements. The Plan begins with a restatement of the 2004 Strategic Plan.
